The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to retain a Contractor to perform project based small civil construction projects “if and when” requested by an authorized City Representative.  Components of the work include but are not limited to installation of the following works: 

• Concrete works such as curb & gutter, sidewalks, traffic islands, medians, footings, foundations or bases.
• Asphalt works such as speedhumps, raised crosswalks, bus stops, asphalt restoration, multi use trails construction, and trench patching.
• Retaining walls and railings
• Civil excavation and grading
• Underground utilities such as sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water including manholes, catch basins, water meters, services.
• Electrical works such as electrical conduit installation, installation of pedestrian RRFBs
• Line painting & traffic sign installation
• Landscape restoration

This RFP uses the current version of the City of Nanaimo Manual of Engineering Standards & Specifications (MOESS), Edition No. 14, dated July 4, 2022, with the exception of Section 2 – General Conditions, which is included herein. This RFP is subject to the New West Partnership Trade Agreement, Canadian Free Trade Agreement - Chapter 5, and the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) - Chapter 19.
