The City wishes to receive Proposals from qualified Executive Search Firm’s to identify and attract an Executive Director for the Nanaimo Prosperity Corporation. 

The Nanaimo Prosperity Corporation (the Corporation) is the newly formed economic development corporation through which business, government, First Nation, and community partners collaborate to build Nanaimo's economy, and increase the level of shared prosperity enjoyed by those who live here.

The Corporation is jointly owned by the City of Nanaimo, Snuneymuxw First Nation, Nanaimo Port Authority, Nanaimo Airport, Vancouver Island University and the Chamber of Commerce. 

The Corporation’s mandate is to:

• implement, maintain, and update as required the Nanaimo Economic Development Strategy
• develop and directly undertake initiatives aimed at attracting businesses, employers, talent, and investment to the community
• coordinate the sector-specific and other economic development activities undertaken by a range of stakeholder organizations
• develop and directly undertake initiatives aimed at retaining and expanding existing businesses.

The Shareholder Agreement and Articles of Incorporation have been approved by the City and the shareholders. The Board has been meeting in preparation for its inaugural meeting. A key first task is securing a qualified Executive Director who will steer the Corporation through its infancy to a recognized leader in economic development for the mid-island.

The City of Nanaimo is assisting in the recruitment of an Executive Search Firm to undertake the work. The successful Proponent will work with the Corporation to identify a suitable leader.
